What Is Autologous Regenerative Medicine?
Florida Orthopedic & Spine Institute offers autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) therapy, using a patient's own blood or bone marrow cells. These treatments are offered as part of a broader treatment plan and are not a substitute for surgery when surgery is medically indicated.
Who Is a Candidate?
Autologous PRP and BMAC therapy may be considered for patients with certain musculoskeletal conditions as part of a broader, physician-directed treatment plan. A physician evaluation is required to confirm candidacy.
PRP and BMAC use only the patient's own cells; no donor tissue is involved. This is a non-surgical option that may be considered alongside or before surgical treatment, but it is not a substitute for surgery when surgery is medically indicated.
What to Expect
Consultation:
A physician determines whether PRP or BMAC is appropriate for your condition.
Collection:
A blood or bone marrow sample is collected from the patient.
Procedure:
Processed PRP or BMAC is injected at the treatment site. PRP and BMAC are autologous procedures and are not FDA-approved for these indications; individual results vary.
